Lower Truck Insurance Premiums Part Two
If you have read part one of our Lower Truck Insurance Premiums advice you will already know that in order to achieve cheaper insurance premiums you must always ensure you only employ experience truck drivers with a good driving history and here we look at other ways to keep costs down to a minimum.
You should also continually aim to train your truck drivers to ensure they are handling the goods they are carrying properly and securing them in the best way possible to avoid accidents.
Educate them also in the art of sticking to speed limits(!) and perhaps even entertain the possibility of installing speed limiters on every truck you own as this can help lower your truck insurance premiums. With an increasing amount of traffic on the roads driving a truck is not what it used to be and anyone out of touch will need immediate defensive driving course training.
Another great way of keeping accidents and incidents to a minimum is to create a reward and incentive program. All truck drivers will enjoy competing against each other for to top the month’s incentive league – especially if you offer some cash or other reward at the end of it. They may even use it to put on their CVs in the future.
Finally, think about adding in a punishment league also by setting guidelines for guidelines and claims. A ‘three strikes and you are out’ rule will help keep your truck drivers’ minds on the task ahead. Just make sure you add in that reward scheme to help balance the picture for them and also lower your insurance premiums!
