Holyhead Port Reopening Still Lacks Clarity for Haulage Companies

Holyhead Port in Anglesey, North Wales, is still closed and UK haulage companies are seeking clarity on both partial and full reopening dates.

The port closed on December 7th due to damage from Storm Darragh and hasn’t reopened since, despite an initial claim of a partial reopening on December 20th which hasn’t yet materialised.

The latest date mooted is this week on Jan 15th 2025 for a “partial reopening”, with a fully operational date sometime in March, but the recent silence from the Holyhead Port and lack of communication is causing alarm from Hauliers who rely heavily on the port for transportation.

It has also disrupted thousands of passenger’s travel plans over the 2024 festive season.

When fully operational, the port transports 2 million passengers every year and 1200 lorries every day, so its place in the UK transportation industry is vital.
