Can you email me policy documents?

Yes – we can email you policy documents and there is no charge from Isis Insurance for doing so. In the digital world, we know that paper documents are somewhat old fashioned and email allows you to show potential clients that you have the more than adequate level of cover to transport their goods.

Can I pay monthly?

We do annual policies but with every policy is the option to pay monthly. This can be done by direct debit or a low interest finance package, depending on the insurer and circumstances.
Covid-19 has meant more Hauliers are looking to spread the cost of their Truck Insurance and we are happy to assist.

Can I get immediate cover?

We can put you on cover as soon as we have run through the vehicle and driver details and you have accepted the quotation(s) we will obtain from our panel of insurers.
This can all be done within 30-45 minutes of initial contact and insurance provided immediately. We can email you the policy documents straight away so you have both your legal requirement for road-use and also proof of cover for contracts etc.

Is it just HGV’s you can insure or large vans?

Isis Insurance can insure both large vans (sometimes called LGV for light goods vehicle) and HGV’s (heavy goods vehicle). Typically, HGVs are heavier than 3.5 tonnes, but the definitions have become more complex over recent years.

We are happy to discuss the options with you, especially if you have a vehicle in mind. We can also put large vans and HGV vehicles on a single fleet insurance policy if you have 3+ vehicles.

Do you provide additional Goods in Transit cover?

Yes, we provide additional goods in transit cover and this can be part of your HGV insurance policy or provided as a separate policy.

Your goods in transit insurance policy will either cover a certain level per tonne (e.g. £5000 per tonne) or a fixed amount per load.

With more expensive goods being transported with the boom in Internet shopping (e.g. high value TV’s), some firms such as Amazon may insist on higher levels of cover.

Do you insure Haulage Fleets?

Isis Insurance do insure Haulage fleets. Typically, the size of the HGV fleets range from 3-100 vehicles and one of the main advantages of a fleet insurance policy is that all of your vehicles are insured on one policy.

This is beneficial for the business owner or the fleet manager, as there is only one renewal date and this reduces a lot of administration. You can choose between named drivers or any driver policies, and premiums will depend on the vehicles, drivers (e.g. age) and postcode where the fleet is parked when not driving.

There are often discounts available for fleet insurance policies versus individual vehicles because an underwriter has better visibility of risk management procedures, and of course, they have the clients whole fleet business rather than the vehicles insured with multiple insurers.

Isis Insurance, as a specialist haulage insurance broker, have a close relationship with a number of Haulage fleet underwriters and often have preferential rates over our competitors. You will also be allocated your own dedicated fleet account manager to make changes throughout the life of your policy.

Do I need to purchase employers liability insurance?

Yes, you do. Employers liability cover was made mandatory in the UK by the Employer’s compulsory Insurance Act 1969 and this legislation requires all employers to purchase employers liability insurance – even if you only use an employee occasionally on a temporary basis. This is often an area of real confusion for customers who may only employ an occasional driver or they may believe that the driver is working for them on a self employed basis. No two cases are ever the same so it is vital that you speak to one of our specialists who can give you advice on an individual basis.

I am a new Haulier what other types of insurance could I need?

We can only really answer this once we have completed our fact finding process with you to establish just what insurance cover you will need, but in generic terms you would normally be looking at a range of covers including Vehicle Insurance, goods in transit insurance, employers and public liability insurance, and possibly legal expenses insurance.
What you purchase is up to you, but some classes of insurance are compulsory by law such as vehicle and employers liability insurance. We have a number of videos giving more details of these products, which you can access by visiting our you tube site

What exactly is a truck insurance policy?

A truck insurance policy can sometimes be called a HGV or haulage insurance policy and it is has been specifically designed for the needs of any business that uses trucks and other HGVs. It is often made up of various sections of cover and is usually categorised depending on the number of trucks or HGVs that need to be included. For example, a truck policy can operate for companies or individuals running between one and five trucks of 7.5T or over.

I’m starting a new haulage company, but I have experience in the industry – is it possible to get my truck insurance to reflect this?

Yes, it is. At Isis, we understand that starting up any new business can be expensive and that insurance cover can be a big part of the set up costs, particularly for a new haulage company. That’s why we provide a number of discounts for new venture companies, including a maximum no claims discount available for companies using drivers with a history of claim-free driving. Even if this isn’t the case we can still sometimes offer up to two years’ introductory discount.
